The Snag a Sitter Option: A Unique Solution for Families

At Joy's Sitters, we understand that finding the perfect sitter is a big decision, and we want to make the process as seamless and affordable as possible. Our Snag a Sitter program was designed to help families avoid hefty placement fees typically associated with hiring a permanent caregiver. This unique process allows you to test out a sitter before committing long-term, ensuring that both your family and the sitter are a perfect match.

Whether you're a new or existing family, the program offers a simple, cost-effective way to secure a sitter who can become a permanent part of your family, without the high upfront costs.

How the Snag a Sitter Option Works for New Families:

1. Enroll and Apply
   Complete our application to get started. This helps us match you with the perfect sitter for your trial session.

2. Book a Trial Session
   Schedule a 3-hour minimum or full-time trial booking with a sitter, just like a regular one-time job. This gives you a chance to see if the sitter is a good fit for your family. During this trial session, it's a great time to talk with your sitter about the opportunity and see if they’re comfortable with the role too! Don't worry, your sitter will know that this is a trial for a potential long term position before they accept the job.  

3. Express Your Interest
   After the trial, if you’d like to make the sitter a permanent part of your family, let us know by expressing your interest. We'll chat with your preferred sitter about the opportunity to double check that they're on board.

4. Pay the Snag a Sitter Fee
   Once everyone's interest is confirmed, sign our Family-Agency Agreement and pay the $2,500 Snag a Sitter fee to finalize the arrangement. Of this amount, $250 goes directly to the sitter as a thank you and congratulations gift from Joy's Sitters, celebrating their new permanent role with your family.

5. Employ Your Sitter
   After the fee is paid, the sitter becomes your employee. You’ll manage their schedule, pay, and other details directly.

6. Gift to you from us! 

You'll receive a complimentary Annual Membership with Joy's Sitters, providing a Backup Care option—perfect for those unexpected moments when your permanent caregiver is unavailable.

How the Snag a Sitter Option Works for Current Families:

1. Identify Your Sitter
   If you’ve found a sitter you’d like to make a permanent part of your family, let us know. We encourage you to talk with your preferred sitter directly about the idea  as well.

2. Express Your Interest
   Reach out to Joy’s Sitters to express your interest in hiring the sitter for long-term care. We'll chat with your preferred sitter about the opportunity to see if they're on board.

3. Pay the Snag a Sitter Fee
   Once everyone's interest is confirmed, sign our Family-Agency Agreement and pay the $2,500 Snag a Sitter fee to finalize the arrangement.    After the fee is paid, the sitter transitions to being your employee. You’ll manage their schedule, pay, and any other arrangements directly.

You'll receive a complimentary Annual Membership with Joy's Sitters, providing a Backup Care option—perfect for those unexpected moments when your permanent caregiver is unavailable.

Important Things to Note – Snag A Sitter

• Trial Session:

  • The first trial session is free of the booking fee, but the family is responsible for the sitter's hourly rate of $25 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours.
  • After the initial trial, families can trial up to five sitters at a discounted $15 booking fee (down from the regular $30) with no change to the sitter’s hourly rate.
  • If you wish to trial additional sitters after these five, the full booking fee of $30 applies unless you become a member or purchase a bundle.

• Snag A Sitter Fee:

  • Once you decide on a sitter after completing the trial process, a "Snag A Sitter" or Placement fee of $2,500 will be due. This fee confirms your sitter as a permanent caregiver.
  • A portion of this fee ($250) is given as a thank you to the sitter, and is given to the sitter directly.

• Membership Benefits:

  • As part of the Snag a Sitter program, families receive a complimentary annual membership for one year, which provides access to our on-demand sitting services as backup care. Valued at $1800!

• Confirmation and Payment Process:

  • You will be asked to sign the Family-Agency Agreement after the trial session has been completed and before making the Snag A Sitter payment.
  • The Snag A Sitter fee will be required when you confirm the sitter as your permanent caregiver.

• Sitter’s Employment:

  • Once the Snag A Sitter fee is paid, the sitter becomes your direct employee, and you will handle salary, work schedule, and compliance with employment laws.

• Replacement Period:

  • There will be a 90 day replacement period. Although you won't have to pay another Snag A Sitter/Placement fee during this time, all bookings and trials will be conducted at your expense.

    After the 90 day replacement period a new Snag A Sitter/Placement process would need to begin.
